What It Is

The Weed and Seed Program is a joint federal and local partnership for coordinated law enforcement and neighborhood reinvestment.  The initiative is administered federally through the Office of Justice Programs and Executive Office for Weed and Seed and locally through the Los Angeles Police Department.

The "weeding" involves all levels of the criminal justice system in removing current criminal activities.  The "seeding" supports that process by exposing the targeted communities to positive influences and offers them an opportunity to organize themselves around access to available resources from many different institutional investors and donors.

What It Is Not

Weed and Seed is not merely a "program", but a comprehensive strategy for public safety and reinvestment.  Click here to read more about the Weed and Seed Program in the Leimert Park area.
