What Is Weed and Seed?
The definition of Weed and Seed is simply to weed out the non-productive elements in the community and to seed it with constructive components to build on a more safe and positive environment for people to live and work in.  The Weed and Seed program was started by President George Bush Sr.  There are two recognized sites in Los Angeles.  They are Gwen Bolden Youth Foundation, Inc and the Central American Resource Center.  The management of the program is conducted by a steering committee, which is made up of residents, law enforcement officials, community based organizations, merchants, faith based groups and youth residing in the community.

How Does The Weed and Seed Program Work?
The weed and Seed coordinator acts as a liaison between the steering committee and the community.  The aim is to increase the neighborhood safety and foster revitalization.  It will work in conjunction with a broad range of community residents and social service providers to meet these goals.  The Weed and Seed coordinator will work on a fast track process in order to maintain continuity.
